Terms of Service

The service
GedConvert validates GEDCOM family tree files, reports problems with line numbers, exports their contents as spreadsheets, writes a format-normalized ("repaired") GEDCOM file, and converts between GEDCOM 5.5.1 and 7.0 (a subset conversion, as described on the site), on a subscription basis.
Plans and limits
Each plan has a monthly allowance of files, a per-file size limit and a per-upload batch limit, as shown on the pricing page. Usage is counted in files successfully processed. Allowances reset at the start of each calendar month and do not roll over. We enforce limits on the server; attempts to bypass them may lead to suspension.
Your files and responsibilities
- You must have the right to upload and process every file you submit.
- The repaired and converted files normalize format only. Content problems (broken links, questionable dates, merged identities) are reported, never changed by us — you are responsible for reviewing the report and for keeping your own master copy of your research.
- Do not upload malware, or files designed to exploit the service.
- Uploads and results are deleted 72 hours after conversion; keep your own copies.
Accuracy
We check files against the published GEDCOM line grammar and the cross-reference, date and encoding rules described on the site, and we report what we find with line numbers. Validation cannot judge whether a fact is historically true, and other programs may apply additional rules. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of fitness for a particular purpose.
Payments and cancellation
Paid plans are billed monthly through Paddle, our merchant of record. You can cancel at any time; the plan stays active until the end of the paid period and then returns to the Free plan. Refunds follow our refund policy.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
